Zenith Bank Ended the Year 2013 the Most Capitalised Bank

For Zenith Bank International Plc, the year 2013 couldn’t have been better as it emerged the as the bank with the highest market capitalisation at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE. The bank’s stock stood at N860 billion as at the end of 2013. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed with N795 billion, while FBN Holdings Plc had N532 billion. United Bank for Africa Plc and Ecobank Transnational Incorporation, ETI, ended the year with N293 billion and N214 billion in the banking sub-sector. Zenith bank also emerged the fourth organization with the highest market capitalisation in the capital market, coming close to Dangote Cement Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc and Nestle Nigeria Plc, rated first, second and third most capitalized stocks respectively. Experts believe that the prime position of Zenith Bank as the number one banking stock was due to its good outing the 2013 financial year, which earned the bank commendation internationally.
