Why Aviation Agencies Must Embrace Safety and Security Measures

Binta Adamu Bello, permanent secretary, Ministry of Aviation, during an unscheduled tour of the Murtala Muhammed International airport, MMIA, Lagos, charged aviation agencies to embrace safety, security and efficiency in their operations, as well as exercise their regulatory authority to inspire confidence and stimulate growth in the industry. According to her, all hands must be on deck to ensure devotion to safety and security. She further stated that all operations must conform to established laws and regulations in line with International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, standards.

The Permanent Secretary, who was in Lagos to see things for herself following reports of safety concerns, however, assured that there was no cause for alarm and charged the heads of the aviation agencies to exercise their standard setting and regulatory authority towards promoting professional excellence and industry growth.

Bello who was accompanied by Hassan Musa, director, Air Transport Management, Ibrahim Idris, director, Planning, Research & Statistics and other senior professionals from the ministry was received by CEOs of all the Aviation Agencies including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, and Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB.
