MultiChoice Hikes Tariffs in Nigeria

MultiChoice Nigeria, South African company, has defended the latest DSTV tariff increase in Nigeria. Caroline Oghuma, public relations manager, said the company took into account many factors in arriving at the new tariffs. “The impact on the subscribers, current inflation and efficiencies effected within the company that may offset the necessity for a price increase,” according to her, were considered.

Multichoice also said the increase in DSTV tariffs was not only in Nigeria, but also in every country where MultiChoice has its operations.
Multichoice Africa, the parent company of DStv, on March 3, 2015, announced a price increase for DSTV, which will take effect from April 1, 2015.
The price increase will set the DSTV premium, which is currently at $77 to $81 monthly.

“MultiChoice implements annual subscription price increase in all its operating countries, however, a price increase was not implemented in Nigeria last year.
“We would like to reassure our subscribers of our best intentions and reaffirm our commitment to Nigeria which is clearly demonstrated through our continuous investment in the country,” the statement said.
