Thanks to Sterling Bank, officials of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, are now wearing new kits. The bank presented 25, 000 units of kits to the organisation as part of its contribution to waste management and traffic control. Jide Sonoiki, the bank’s group head, collections, while presenting the kits stated that the bank will continually engage in initiatives that will protect the environment, especially those that are connected to the protection of lives through its well known partnership with LAWMA. He further disclosed that the bank had concluded discussions with the governments of other states in the country on the provision of kits for highway managers and sweepers.
While receiving the kits, Tunde Oresanya, LAWMA’s managing director, commended the bank for its support and promotion of clean environment and good health. He stated that the success of the good environment campaign has been due to the enormous support of Sterling bank. “If you are going to talk about cleaner Lagos, you cannot but mention Sterling Bank as one of the prominent organizations that have been at the forefront of environmental cleanliness not only in Lagos but in all the locations where it has businesses through its periodic national cleaning exercise.The bank gives us about 25,000 new kits annually, from which we provide a pair for each cleaner. What Sterling Bank is doing is to preserve lives. When you look at primary healthcare, you will observe that the Bank looks or sees life preservation as key to the growth of the society,” Oresanya stated.
Oresanya called on other financial institutions to emulate the bank to ensure a clean environment as “Sterling Bank has demonstrated how a responsible organization should relate with its community.”
