The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, is set to commence intensive training of its Aviation Security, Airport Rescue and Fire fighting personnel. Saleh Dunoma, the Managing Director of FAAN, stated this over the weekend during an inspection of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
A statement by Yakubu Dati, general manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN,
said the strategy is geared towards promoting safety, security and airport excellence based on International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO, annex 14 Standards and Recommended Practices, SARPS, and Airport Council International, ACI, Best Practices.
According Dunoma, “the first batch of one hundred personnel drawn from the Aviation Security, Airport Rescue and Fire fighting personnel are being shortlisted for the first batch, after which the other six hundred personnel will follow suit.”
Dunoma said the capacity building would strengthen FAAN’s capacity at mitigating safety vulnerabilities identified by the evaluation observed by the regulators, the NCAA.
