Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has notified airlines, passengers and all other aviation stakeholders that effective ‪00:00 on 24th August, 2019‬, the runway at Akanu Ibiam International Airport  in Enugu  will be closed for major repairs and works on the airfield.
She said the move was aimed at resolving  the existing Safety/Security  concerns to flight  operations, and that a date to reopen the runway will be  communicated in due course.
