FAAN Ready For Aircraft Emergency At Airports

The Federal Airports of Nigeria, FAAN, has carried out a simulation exercise at the airside of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Abuja.
Henrietta Yakubu, general manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, the exercise was aimed at demonstrating the Authority’s readiness to attend to aircraft emergencies of any kind should the need arise.
Present at the event was Rabiu Yadudu, director of Airport Operations, FAAN, who represented the managing director. He noted that the exercise was meant to confirm that FAAN has the right equipment, manpower and strategy to perform its statutory duties. He emphasized that the exercise was also necessary in ensuring the certification of the airport.
Also in attendance was Victor Akinlabi Akinselure, deputy general manager, Aerodrome  Rescue & Fire Fighting Services, ARFFS, M.L. Sani, airport manager, NAIA, Abuja, Elifue Agbi, general manager Safety, and Director of Aerodrome and Odunowo Mohammed, airspace standards, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, and many other top management staff.
Some of the agencies involved in the exercise were NCAA, NAMA, Road Safety, NEMA, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps, Port Health Services and Nigerian Air Force.
FAAN assured airport users and the general public that it woulf continue to deliver on its core mandates of ensuring safety and security at the nation’s airports.
