Enterprise Bank Promotes Healthy Living

To Ahmed Kuru, managing director and chief executive officer, Enterprise Bank Limited, being conscious of one’s lifestyle and placing high priority on regular exercise and healthy living are essential ways to achieve a perfect healthy life. This probably explains why in December 2007, the bank launched the Walk-For-Life campaign, its corporate social responsibility, CSR, initiative to prove that the bank is committed to improving the lives and lifestyles of stakeholders.

Speaking at the end of the second edition of the health walk recently held across the country, Kuru maintained that improper feeding and failure to exercise regularly is always detrimental to people’s health, especially as they grow older. He commended all who participated in the health walk stressing the importance of moderation in all endeavours. “I am one of those who believe in moderation in anything we do. People should be able to eat well but the watchword should be moderation at all times because too much of everything is bad. So the emphasis is for everyone of us to be conscious and engage in regular exercise so that we can strike a balance with what we eat,” he added.

He enjoined participants to get set for a longer walk in the next edition of the exercise, which has come to stay as a regular programme to show that the bank is concerned about the health of its stakeholders. The 2014 edition of the Walk-for-life campaign did not only witness the staff of the bank walking a distance of about nine kilometer, their friends, family members but other interested members of the public also joined in the health walk which covered Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lagos Island, Lagos. The walk was held last Saturday simultaneously in all the 10 regions of the bank in the country except in some of the states with security threats and in Ekiti, due to the elections held there on the day.
