Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria limited, makers of Ovaltine beverages and DHL Express, have entered into a strategic partnership to curb malnutrition among internal displaced people, IDPs, in Yola, Adamawa State. While Twinings Ovaltine is donating food and drinks worth millions of naira for a year, DHL Express is responsible for transporting the beverage to the Yola Camp.
According to Enrico Liggeri, general manager, Twinings Ovaltine Nigeria, the two companies will use the partnership to showcase their commitment to corporate social responsibility, CSR, in Nigeria. He said as responsible corporate citizens, both companies recognised that this is the right time to respond to the plight of the IDPs because they require the collective support and empathy of the private sector at this critical moment of their life.
Randy Buday, managing director, DHL, stated that the firms were touched by the need for highly nutritious food especially by children, nursing mothers and aged people and determined to partner to keep them strong and healthy as government at all levels continue efforts for their permanent resettlement. ‘‘Our gesture is all about responding to the humanitarian need of the displaced persons at this critical moment of their life. We feel their pain and the need to be provided with nutritious food so they can remain healthy and be able to live active an life in spite of their current predicament,” he said.
