CBN’s N100 Centenary Note Debuts

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, is adding colour to the Nigerian centenary celebration with the introduction of N100 bank note. The special commemorative N100 note, according to a statement by the bank, is in line with the bank’s mandate to issue legal tender currency in the country.

The apex bank said the note is also designed to incorporate additional security features for digital communication, protection against counterfeiting, tolerance to the tropics and to ensure ease of recognition of genuineness.

“The choice of the N100 denomination is to mark the centenary celebration of Nigeria and is consistent with best global practices for Central Banks around the world during the celebration of national events. While retaining the portrait of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo on the front, the new note features Nigerian traditional dancers at the back. The commemorative note comes in different dominant colours,” the bank noted.
