Aviation Ministry Supports New Lafia Airport

The Federal Ministry of Aviation, through Ibrahim Idris, its director of Projects, has commended the proposed construction of new airport by the government of Nasarawa State. He said so when he led the delegation from the Ministry including Saleh Dunoma, managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, and other FAAN officials, on a working visit to the governor of the State in his office.

Idris promised that the ministry would support the state government on that project. In his response, Governor Tanko Al-Makura, welcomed the delegation, stating that, “the proposed airport in Nasarawa State would serve as alternate airport to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, serve as cargo airport for agricultural produce and serve neighbouring states of Benue, Kogi, Kaduna, Plateau and Taraba.”

The MD of FAAN in his remarks, thanked the government of Nasarawa State for its foresight in proposing the construction of this new airport, which he said would open up Nasarawa State to the rest of the world, stimulate economic activities and create more jobs in the state in particular and the country in general.
